Realistic surface reconstruction of 3D scenes from uncalibrated image sequences

چکیده
This contribution addresses the problem of obtaining 3D models from image sequences. A 3D surface description of the scene is extracted completely from a set of uncalibrated camera images of the scene. No prior knowledge about the scene or about the camera is needed to build the 3D models. The only assumptions are the rigidity of the scene objects and opaque object surfaces. The modeling system described here uses a 3-step approach. First, the camera pose and intrinsic parameters are calibrated by tracking salient feature points throughout the sequence. Next, consecutive images of the sequence are treated as stereoscopic image pairs and dense correspondence maps are computed by area matching. Finally, dense and accurate depth maps are computed by linking together all correspondences over the viewpoints. The depth maps are converted to triangular surfaces meshes that are texture mapped for photo-realistic appearance. The feasibility of the approach has been tested on both real and synthetic data and is illustrated here on several outdoor image sequences.

Architectural Scene Reconstruction from single or Multiple Uncalibrated Images
In this paper we present a system for the reconstruction of 3D models of architectural scenes from single or multiple uncalibrated images. The partial 3D model of a building is recovered from a single image using geometric constraints such as parallelism and orthogonality, which are likely to be found in most architectural scenes. The approximate corner positions of a building are selected inte...

An approach for 3D surface reconstruction from two uncalibrated views is proposed in this paper. The SUSAN corner detector is used for corners from points in edges, which are detected by Sobel edge operator. After corners matching between two images, the fundamental matrix is estimated to acquire 3D structure from matched corners by an improved weighted linear algorithm, which is based on the e...

The goal of this work is to create a system for improving large architectures models with relatively few uncalibrated image sequences and produces interactively navigable and photorealistic 3D scene. The novel idea is based on the combination of spatial 3D vector data and uncalibrated image sequences to improve the fidelity of 3D architecture models in an extended urban area. First, the spatial...

This contribution gives an overview of automatic 3D scene reconstruction and visualisation from uncalibrated and handheld camera image sequences. We address specifically the problems that are associated with calibration and visual-geometric reconstruction of complex scenes with occlusions and view-dependent surfaces. The scene is then represented by large sets of calibrated real viewpoints with...
